Haunted houses and Halloween nights in San Antonio, and where to eat after

Halloween 2026 lands on a Saturday, one week after Muertos Fest fills Hemisfair. 13th Floor downtown, haunted houses at SeaWorld and Six Flags Fiesta Texas, a small-town haunt in Devine, family days, 21+ pub crawls, and what is not open this year. A guest guide from Mr. Fear, ending at three pizza kitchens near downtown still open after the scares.

October around San Antonio. The haunts run from downtown to Devine, so plan the drive before the costume.

Halloween 2026 is a Saturday. Día de los Muertos is the Monday after, November 2. The big downtown weekend comes first: Muertos Fest runs at Hemisfair October 23 to 25, and the Day of the Dead River Parade is Friday, October 23. The haunts are spread out: 13th Floor downtown, ghost tours at Alamo Plaza, SeaWorld on the far west side, Six Flags Fiesta Texas on the northwest side and Sinister Harvest in Devine. This is the scary half of a night out. The eating half is at the end, close to downtown.

HB 1819The Texas law, in effect since September 1, 2023, that bars cities and counties from enforcing curfews on anyone under 18. San Antonio has no juvenile curfew on Halloween night.

I write the haunt guides on Mr. Fear, a Halloween site, and I am a guest here. Top of San Antonio asked for the haunted houses. They supplied the tables.

The night, in order

Pick the haunt before the costume, because the rules differ. 13th Floor sells only dated, timed tickets online, with no walk-ups, and it does not allow costumes, face paint or props. Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld does not allow costumes either, but it comes with a dated park ticket, and you can enter the park at 6 p.m. for a 7 p.m. start. Fright Fest at Six Flags Fiesta Texas needs a Haunted Attractions Pass on top of park admission to get into the mazes. Anything outside downtown needs a car or a rideshare. Eat after, not before. The weekend before Halloween, expect crowds on the River Walk and around Hemisfair. There is no juvenile curfew, though emergency curfews under state disaster law are still possible. Clocks go back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 1.

The haunted houses

  • 13th Floor Haunted House San Antonio, Downtown: an indoor haunt on East Commerce Street with Jason Universe: Survive the Night, Dose of Decay and The Last Spinehelm: Zombie Shooting Range. Select nights September 12 to November 8. Only small clear bags are allowed. The operator says it may be too intense for children 12 and under.
  • Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld San Antonio, West side: 5 haunted houses, 8 scare zones and 3 shows, included with park admission, including the new I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final Catch. Select Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, September 11 to November 1, from 7 p.m. to park close. SeaWorld says it is intended for a mature audience.
  • Fright Fest at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Northwest: six haunted mazes, including The Conjuring Universe and the new Nosferatu, plus scare zones and night rides. Select nights September 11 to November 1. The park does not recommend it for children under 13. Hours are in the Six Flags app.
  • Sinister Harvest Haunted Attraction, Devine: groups walk through on their own, and the organizer warns there is no turning back once you are inside. Fridays and Saturdays September 26 to October 31, plus a blackout night on Sunday, October 25 and Thursday, October 29. Halloween weekend runs 8 p.m. to midnight.
  • The Scream Experiment, Alamo Plaza: a year-round live-actor walkthrough beside the Alamo, set in a fictional hotel with 13 guest rooms. The operator welcomes brave guests of all ages. Hours were not posted on the page I read, so check before you go.
  • Nightmare at Owl Creek, Far west side: an outdoor haunt with a haunted forest trail, a pitch-dark Blackout Maze and a Gellyball zombie game for ages 5 and up. The operator had not posted 2026 dates when I checked, so confirm on its calendar first.

With kids

The theme parks run daytime Halloween for families. Halloween Spooktacular at SeaWorld runs select dates September 11 to November 1, included with park admission, with trick-or-treat stations for guests 12 and younger while supplies last. Costumes are allowed there, but guests 13 and older may not wear costume masks or hoods. Tricks and Treats at Six Flags Fiesta Texas runs Saturdays and Sundays, September 12 to November 1, with costume contests and shows, and the park calls it all fun and no fear. Zoo Boo! at San Antonio Zoo runs September 19 to November 1, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., though trick-or-treat times were not posted yet. For an evening out, Traders Village has the 10-acre CORNy Maze and a drive-through light show the operator calls non-scary, Enchanted Lights, which runs Thursday to Sunday, 7 to 10:30 p.m., through October 31.

Twenty-one and over

13th Floor sells a Secret Bar Combo Pack add-on for guests 21 and over. The ghost tours have adult versions too. Sisters Grimm runs Haunted Pub Crawl: The Ghost Bus nightly from 204 Alamo Plaza, 2.5 hours, 21 and over. Ghost City Tours runs its San Antonio Haunted Pub Crawl every night at 8 p.m. for 2 hours, 21 and over, and the operator says it is not wheelchair accessible. For a later start, its Madames and Mayhem Ghost Tour meets at the Bexar County Courthouse at 9 p.m. and is for ages 16 and up. At Muertos Fest, you need a valid ID to buy alcohol.

What is not open this year

Terrorland Haunted Adventure is not opening for the 2026 season, and the operator says it will welcome guests back if it decides to reopen. Morgan’s Wonderland has not posted a 2026 Halloween Bash; its Halloween page still shows 2025 dates. The Day of the Dead festival at La Villita has not posted 2026 dates on its own site either.

The full list

Dates, ticket rules, ages and directions for every one of these, plus the Día de los Muertos festivals at Hemisfair and Pearl, the River Parade, pumpkin patches and more ghost tours, are on my beat, not a restaurant site’s. The full San Antonio haunted house and Halloween events guide on Mr. Fear has all 21 listings checked against each organizer’s own page, with the links to book.

Where to eat after

Best Pizza Restaurants in Greater San Antonio - 2026 Guide
Wood-fired pizza near downtown, for the table that just got out of a haunted house.

All three sit close to the center of the city: Battalion on South Alamo Street south of downtown, Back Unturned Brewing on Brooklyn Avenue north of downtown, and Southerleigh at Pearl. That keeps dinner near 13th Floor and the Alamo Plaza ghost tours. These three are on the Top of San Antonio pizza list. The scores are theirs, not mine.
